GPC is the exclusive Canadian distributor of Collection Point, the Digital Asset Management System developed by codeMantra LLP.
Under this license, GPC is able to sublicense Collection Point to Canadian publishers at low prices. This permits publishers to take the first steps into the digital marketplace without a large investment, and to apply the asset organization and metadata discipline that is needed to establish a solid base. Once this crucial process has taken place, publishers can look at moving into higher-end or customized systems.
Collection Point is a hosted system offering these key features:
Asset Storage
CP combines certified archival storage with robust web-based tools to allow remote management from multiple locations. Under one ISBN the system will store multiple digital assets; search tools permit easy location of desired assets; a shopping cart model guides the various transactions available, including local upload and download, delivery to external users, delivery to distributors and conversion ordering. All distributors’ ingestion sites are set up in the system and
Metadata Storage and Management
The inventory or metadata which is so crucial to the distribution process is stored and managed on CP; editing tools are provided, and metadata is linked to all assets delivered by the system. This feature alone is worth the price of the system.
File Delivery Services
As a leading conversion partner for publishers worldwide, codeMantra has accumulated a wealth of experience in the delivery of digital files for publishers.
In 2010, codeMantra delivered hundreds of thousands of ebook files to dozens of distributors on clients' behalf. We engage on a daily basis with all the major ebook vendors, including Amazon/Kindle, Apple, Google Editions, Baker & Taylor/Blio, Barnes & Noble, Scribd, Sony and Kobo. We also serve Collection Point clients' files to specialized aggregators like Overdrive, Safari, Books 24x7, ebrary, Lightning Source, MyiLibrary, NetLibrary and Questia, and discovery channels like Bowker, Google Books and Amazon Search Inside.
We have built scripts to handle metadata output in the specific formats required by each channel partner. We know the rules and routines set up by each vendor, and have been certified by many for easy transmission of files on our client's behalf. Successful delivery of files from CP to any listed vendor is guaranteed, and there is a nominal charge for the service.
The complexities of ebook distribution are growing with the emergence of each new channel. Publisher clients of Collection Point do not need to build the specialized expertise to deal with these complexities, but may instead leave the delivery to us.
Logistics and Distribution Tracking/ Workflow Management
All transactions handled by the system are recorded, and reporting tools give the publisher a record of all activity. Workflow management is built in to the system to allow planning of conversions, and automation of delivery.
Conversion Management/ File Viewers
For publishers, Collection Point will transform print production files into revenue-producing assets. It will move the management of PDF files from a production/technical environment into sales, marketing and editorial departments where they can be easily used for a variety of purposes.
Marketing Tools
Widgets: Creation of a versatile marketing “search-within” tool is simple in CP: users may choose sample pages from any title, impose a book jacket impression, and generate a URL which can be easily copied and pasted into affiliate web pages. The Widget will provide traffic statistics while directing potential customers to a storefront via a "buy" button.
Autocomposed catalogues: This tool allows CP users to generate on-demand catalogues based on prescribed criteria, including territory, rights, pricing and format options. This application will appeal to sales or rights agents requiring an immediate assortment of titles for a market-specific or territory-specific offering.
Auto-composition: Using MSWord as the primary input and InDesign as the underlying composition engine, this application suite provides for dynamic composition of standardized titles. Users can upload an edited Word version of a title into cP 2.0's autocompose application and within seconds (depending on the extent and complexity of the content) receive a fully composed, print-ready PDF for review and distribution.
